송민규는 현실에서 관찰한 이미지를 데이터로 전환하고, 이를 편집해 가상의 풍경으로 재구성한다. 자신의 규칙에 따라 상징체계로 번역하는 과정을 거친 데이터는 현실의 사실적인 재현이 아니라 일정한 질서 속에서 작동하는 추상적 구조가 된다. 개인적인 사유와 감각을 바탕으로 편집하고 이를 캔버스에 옮긴 작품은 현실과 가상, 보는 이미지와 읽는 이미지를 넘나들며, 반복과 편집의 문법을 통해 추상 회화의 조형 방식의 확장 가능성을 탐구한다. 이번 전시 <런닝머신>에서는 고정된 장소에서 끊임없이 반복되는 일상과 내면의 운동성을 은유하며, 운동기구들이 만들어내는 리듬과 운동에너지를 회화적 언어로 탐색한다. 작가는 회화 작업을 통해 중력과 근력, 시간과 노화, 정지와 이동, 그리고 반복의 리듬이 만들어내는 감각을 시각화한다. 이를 통해 물리적 힘과 내면의 감각이 교차하는 현대적 풍경을 제시하고자 한다.
Mingyu Song transforms images observed from reality into data, which he then edits and reconstructs into virtual landscapes. Through a process of translating this data into a symbolic system according to his own logic, the resulting images move beyond realistic representation to become abstract structures operating within a specific order. Edited through personal thought and sensory experience, his paintings traverse the boundaries between reality and the virtual, between images that are seen and those that are read. Through the grammar of repetition and editing, Song explores the potential expansion of formal structures within abstract painting. In his exhibition Running Machine, the artist metaphorically reflects the endlessly repetitive condition of being fixed in one place while in constant motion, exploring through painterly language the rhythm and kinetic energy generated by exercise machines. Through his paintings, Song visualizes sensations created by gravity and muscular strength, time and aging, stillness and movement, and the rhythm of repetition. In doing so, he presents a contemporary landscape where physical forces and inner sensibilities intersect.
